Anxiety disorder is a common disorder in the United States, affecting up to 1 in 5 individuals. It has a number of symptoms, but the most common is that someone feels anxious about something that they cannot control. People with anxiety disorders feel a constant need to feel in control of an activity or situation.

It is not uncommon to feel anxious when faced with an unexpected situation that requires some degree of control or freedom, but the need to control is not the same thing as the problem. The problem is the feelings. Anxiety disorders are often brought on by the experiences of childhood, adolescence, or adulthood.

I’ve suffered from anxiety for about twenty years now and I’ve always been able to overcome my anxiety. There is no such thing as anxiety without the feeling of being frightened. In fact, the feelings of fear are actually what make anxiety disorders such a common problem in the first place. For instance, if you feel fearful of a particular situation or activity it is not uncommon to feel anxious.

The problem is that it is not uncommon to feel anxious even for a short time. In a study conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health, researchers discovered that the average person suffering from a panic attack felt anxious for an average of 8 seconds. For comparison, when you are anxious for a second or two the feeling of having a panic attack lasts for an average of 3 to 7 seconds. When you are anxious for longer periods of time your anxiety can last for an average of 8 to 23 minutes.

Anxiety is not a good thing, so is it surprising that people are anxious and need to recover from that? You might be surprised to know that the best way to recover from anxiety is to reduce the anxiety, not increase it. That is, to feel the anxiety but also have a feeling of calmness. When you feel a sense of calmness, you don’t feel anxious, you feel calm. That’s called relaxation.

Relaxation is the body’s response to anxiety.
