Once you are aware that you are in autopilot you can stop yourself from doing anything.

The problem with autopilot is that it keeps us from being a little more aware of who we are. We are so used to thinking and feeling like we are the center of our universe, without even realizing it. While that is great for entertainment, it can also cause us to forget why we were put here by our parents, or that we can have a life without a partner.
