The Mental Health First Aid and Crisis Line is a great resource for anyone who needs assistance with mental health issues. I have worked with mental health first responders and crisis centers for years and I can’t think of a better group to work with. The First Aid and Crisis line is more than just a phone number. The staff is compassionate, friendly, and available 24/7. They have a great team, a great location, and a great mission.
The First Aid and Crisis Line are located at: 641-734-1164. That’s the last number, but it’s all the same person. And they’re open 24/7. There are also resources for the general public through the Mental Health First Aid and Crisis Center website.
There are only two services on the website—one for the general public, and one for patients who are not allowed to talk. I was told this because nobody in the community is allowed to talk. This may seem like a bad thing, but as an aside, one of the things that I would recommend to patients is to speak with the patient.
I hear you, but nobody is allowed to talk when you go to see a crisis counselor. This is because your voice would ruin their day, and your silence is the only thing anyone can see when you’re there.
Speaking of bad days, every time I go to a crisis center, I get to hear the same conversation.
